I'm asking this on behalf of my sister (age 19, healthy, normal weight, no smoking or drinking, not pregnant): For the last 2 days, she's had sharp, crampy pain in the upper right quadrant of her abdomen, bordering on chest. It started randomly while she was laying down watching TV. It is about 2.5 inches to her right of the bottom of her sternum, over her ribs. She says it doesn't feel like it is actually in her abdominal cavity (e.g. a liver or gallbladder problem), but that it feels like it is subcutaneous or even intercostal. It is worse when she inhales, but it is almost always present. It is also exacerbated when pressed on between the 6th and 7th rib.
Do you have any idea what it could be? I said it sounds like a pulled muscle or costochondritis, but I'm not positive.
Thanks, I'll pick a best answer TODAY!!!
