should i buy a cheap new road bike llike a dawes lighting or used 10 y/o schwinn?

seller says used bike is in good condition but i'm sure i would have the local bike shop tune it up
trying to get more info from seller. initial pic is small.
 
no. Neither. Most schwinns are crappy, with the exception of the paramount, and cheap new bikes suck also. Check out craigslist and find something better. just be patient, something will come up.
 
Look at it this way. You're buying one of two frames. Get the one that fits you best and is the lightest. Everything else is components that may are may not be any good.

Pick the frame. Replace components as needed or desired. Slowly or quickly the bicycle will be customized by you.
