Should I buy a refurb iphone ?

I really want an iphone but I don't have the money to buy one with the original price so I am thinking of purchasing a refurb one from the online AT&T store - are those phones reliable and in good condition?
 
It really doesn't matter if it's refurbished. I bought a brand new phone and still had problems with it. Just be sure to get the insurance on it. Mine is $5 a month.
