Ok, so to start things off, let me explain my situation. I'm in high school and I work part-time, so I'm not exactly loaded. I just want an affordable phone and plan that gives the essentials you would expect (decent minutes, texting, call display, etc).
Because of where I work, I can get a corporate smart phone plan (which believe it or not, is about the same or cheaper as a regular voice plan) with Bell, and I noticed that on even just a one year contract, I could get the Motorola Dext for free. I know it's old, and there's no upgrades for it (It's stuck with android 1.5).
My question is : Should I buy this phone? Will the fact that it's stuck with Android 1.5 affect me, personally?
On one hand, lots of people are unhappy with the fact Motorola is not providing an update for the phone. I am wondering if this will affect me as I plan to only use the phone for calling and texting anyways, and I hardly plan to use data at all. The only other aspect of the phone that interests me is the fact I would be able to play games (Nintendo Emulators) on it, but that's hardly an essential thing for me to have.
In case you're wondering why I am not buying a regular phone, it is because I have to get a smart phone to get the corporate plan. The Motorola Dext is the cheapest option for me.
