I started invisalign to straighten my teeth about a year ago, stupidly thinking that it would move my lower jaw forward somehow as well to fix my overbite, but found out later it will do no such thing. I recently went to two orthodontists to find out what I could do about my lower jaw being too far back. It messes up my appearance because it is not as far forward as it should be and I have no jaw line when you see me from the side. I asked about jaw surgery and one orthadontist told me having my entire jaw moved forward would be very major and my case isn't as major as most who would go through that kind of painful surgery, he said that he definitely sees that my lower jaw is too far back though. He recommended moving just the front portion of the jaw forward, my chin. It is much more minor but will have a similar affect on my profile but the recovery is only a week or two. I visited an oral surgeon who said he usually does this procedure WITH jaw surgery, and rarely does it for cosmetic purposes. He referred me to the best of the best, a surgeon trained both in oral surgery and plastic surgery he said if his daughter was to have this procedure, he would take her to him.

My question is do you guys think I should do this? I have always been somewhat against plastic surgery and I never in a million years would have thought I would get it. I am a 19 year old female by the way, in college. I just hate the way my chin messes up my profile and face and just doesn';t look normal so far back, I wish I had gone to an orthodontist when I was a kid because they could have fixed this while my jaw was still growing but now surgery is the only option. Every day I wear my long hair on the sides of my face to cover my profile and I could never wear it in a ponytail due to being so self conscious about it. Please let me know all of your opinions on this. Thanks.
