My laptop has had a virus..the only way to get rid of it cheaply was to create a new login and delete the old account. Well it's back now. What it does is it pops up a Windows Privacy Protection Window. It tells me I have multiple viruses (like 100 or so) and says I can remove them. If I hit the 'Remove' button, it pops up 'Activate Protection' or 'No, Don't Activate'. If you hit 'Activate' then it'll go in a red border line window that gives you an ad saying 'For 70 to 100 bucks you can activate you're security'. I haven't done any paying because I smell bs. Also my avast antivirus doesn't detect anything right now, but it did just block 2 trojans, which is what I'm guessing what this is except it's hidden in the laptop. It also has a nice little window that I can click on to do scans, check my privacy settings, and my firewall settings. It will tell me my firewall is not on, my privacy is not secure, which is not true of course after going into my actual control panel and going in to see my firewall is up, everything's up to date, and nothing's unusual. This is the third time and it will eventually not allow my internet come up until I 'buy' this 'product' because that's what happened the last time after a while. Should I pitch this and just invest in something new or get it taken to someone...again?
