Should I scrap my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe or fix it? (bent valves)?

Apparently a bolt came loose and jammed the timing belt. That's when I first heard the dreaded words 'interference engine'. Anyway, I paid $6k 4 months ago for this 2003 2.4L 2wd 5sp with 67k miles, and it was running strong until this happened. $2500 for parts and labor to fix. Would a dealer give me anything as a trade-in? What would it get if I scrapped it?

considering a used engine is about 1800-2000 installed and the book value is 5500 it should be worth 1500-2500

advertise it as a mechanics special needing a motor for $2500

Hmm, well it depends on what valves you are talking about, and more than likely its not that hard of a fix.. The dealer always over prices everything! thats the first problem i mean i know you could buy the parts yourself and have it taken to a local mechanic other than the dealership.

id fix it,you cant go out and trade it or get anything for it like it is,a good used engine is around 850-1200 bucks for it,and there's plenty of those wrecked that you can get an engine from, the you would have a good vehicle,if you scrap it out you wont recover what you got in it right now and you will be at a huge loss on money with it,fix it drive it and get some of your money back on it,good luck.
