My dog is border collie/newfie. And she is chubby. And if the weather gets to be -25 weather my mom wont let me walk the dog. She said its too cold for the dog. And if I can't walk her, what can I do inside that will give her excersise? Oh and I walk her for an hour at a time. Thanks

Wow. That's pretty cold. You need to take her outside to use the restroom, but no LONG walks are needed while it is that cold. If your mom won't let you do it, then don't.

Good Luck.

well if you wouldnt walk in that weather your dog probably wouldnt!her feet would have to pay the price...walk around the house and play fetch!

Newfies were made for Canadian winter weather. Border Collies work outdoors in EVERY whether imagineable in Scotland which can get bitter cold. Your dog can certainly handle the weather outside for short periods of time for the walk.

You just pay attention to when she shows she's getting her body temp too low, with shivering. But if she's playing in the snow, running, and having fun, it's fine. You can break things into two half hour sessions, if one hour is too long.

Would you want to take a stroll in a -25 degree C environment? I think not. Just play a little fetch with her in the house. Or you can have your dog jump for a ball you're dangling from above her head.

I agree though. With these conditions it is way to cold to be walking an animal with only a "long sleeve coat on", "pants" and a "jacket". That is how warm it is for the dog. Hope this helps
