Ask an Australian about this, after rabbits were introduced there and cost them BILLIONS of dollars.
While they are not actually rodents, they are legally classified as pests in the UK, and I believe other places, as well. They need to be control because they breed like.........rabbits! I just read where in many places they are costing farmers 4000 pounds a year on average.
Rabbit fever has been a problem in the US also.
I think hunting and trapping and eating of rabbits should be encouraged. They are very good fried.
Edit: If the population is negligible, then why the outrage about hunting? I find many articles about the damage they cause, but haven't linked to any articles stating reasons they should not be exterminated from their non-natural habitat? Do you have links?
