Should Satellite TV Contracts be abolished?

I mean, we are paying them for a service only to be "bound" and hog tied to a contract for 2 years. Why am I giving my money to something that is tying my hands? (so to speak).
 
I think almost all contracts such as that should be abolished. So many TV and cell phone companies are proving that contracts are not necessary. I think a day will come when contracts are abolished.
 
What other choices do you think should be taken away from you?
You are giving your money to something that is "tying your hands" because that's what you decided to do. Do you now regret that so much that you think the human race is too stupid to make that choice for themselves?
