Sidekick or Blackberry?

I'm trying to figure out which phone to get. I'm either getting a Sidekick, or a Blackberry. Over-all, which phones are the "best" in your opinion, and why?

I'm mostly interested in being able to access the internet (i.e. browsing web pages) and being able to run custom apps. Which phone series has the most support for custom apps and such? And do both phones support web browsing?
