that make marriage corrupt, too? Many religious people stake a lot on the idea that marriage is a pristine, unshakeable part of religious belief.

Despite the fact that in the U.S. for example over 50% of marriages end in divorce, despite the children who get their first load of emotional baggage watching their parents tear themselves apart, many still look at it as some wonderful panacea, under God.

Is marriage all that it's cracked up to be? Or is it just cracked and corrupt, like much of religion today?

God established marriage between the first two human beings a long way before man-made religion was formed! To answer your question no, marriage is a sign of purity!

Marriage mirrors the convenant of God. Human persons who do not follow the ways of our Lord fail in there marriages

marraige is NOT a religious institution.

religious ceremony is only ONE way you can get married.

married by a judge or magistrate is one, (or other city/town official designated for this).

and married by a sea captain is another.

Marriage isn't a religious institution.

In many places, if you want a religious marriage you have to have a separate service because religious ones aren't recognised (e.g. France, Italy)

What is interesting is that you are more likely to get divorced if you are a believer (I'll find the reference for you)

11% of the adult population is currently divorced.
25% of adults have had at least one divorce during their lifetime.

"Divorce rates among conservative Christians were significantly higher than for other faith groups, and much higher than Atheists and Agnostics experience. "

i think it depends on who is in the marriage. if two deluded people marry well then...disaster abounds

Marriage does not have to be a religious institution. It can simply be a legal contract. It can be wonderful or disasterous. If you don't want to get married, then don't.
