So the other day I was outside and I saw this kid smoking and he looked pretty young. Anyways I ask him some questions just because I'm wondering, and he says that the legal age in Ontario to smoke is 16 with an ID on your person, but 19 to buy the cigarettes?

To my knowledge there is no smoking legal age law?

What do you think?

It is not illegal for someone that young to smoke or possess tobacco products however the person who gave them to him/her or sold them to him/her is liable to a fine and has broken the law. Federal law in Canada sets the age at 18 however in Ontario the provincial government has set the age at 19 for someone to acquire tobacco products on their own.

And do you really think that it is smart for someone to advertise both their name and their regimental affiliation (Royal Regt of Canada) on a site such as YA? Anyone within DND could pull out a lot of info about you that you may not want posted or known. Just a safety tip.

well the kid wouldn't be charged for 'smoking' but a cop would confiscate the smokes if he saw it.
