Smoking Car 2002 VW Beetle Help?

I have a 2002 VW Beetle. It has been smoking for about 2 days now. Only when I stop does it smoke, and not every time I stop. Usually at night I dont think it happens (cant really tell) but it happens usually during the morning (when its still half cold) or during the day. It does also smell, reminds me of when I spilled a little oil when I was putting oil in, like it is burning off oil (havent put oil in recently) Just the past 2 days but it happened about 2 weeks ago, same smell same smoke but went away so I figured my fiance had put oil in it and it was burning off if he spilled some??? Had a lot of problems with this car any thoughts???
