So what do I do to put it pick up my hamsters?

i have 2 fancy russian hamsters (both males) and i just got it today (March 15, 2009) and im trying to tame both of them, but tomorrow im going to pick one up and put him in his lil' ball to roll and get used to the house....but im scared to pick one of the up because they look at my hand which scares me because today i was trying to pet one of them and one looked like he was going to bite me... Please help me out! :/

Make no sudden quick movements infront of them, make sure your hands are clean, and either put in a small box for them to go in so you can pick up the box, or sometimes even a small peice of grain or seed in your hand and lure them into your hand gently.... remember if it bites, dont fling your hand or the little ham is going with it!!, into a wall. it doesnt hurt that bad... the biting part.

I had a hamster many years ago an I had her trained so all I had to do was put my hand into the cage, palm up and she would climb into my hand and I would lift her out of the cage. She would sit on my shoulder as I walked around and I even took her outside with me and she would stay right on my shoulder, she was a very sweet hamster and I really miss her.
