So I am trying to solder some stranded wire together, some 16 gauge up to 12 gauge. I have a WEN soldering gun that when I pull the trigger, the tip gets glowing red hot, and a pencil tip soldering iron. I am using .032 diameter rosin core 60/40 solder that I just bought the other day. The iron and the gun will both melt the solder when I touch it to the tip, but when I hold it to the opposite side of the twisted together wire, it will not melt no matter how long I hold it on there. Whats the problem? Thanks
