look under the dash on the top side of the column. there is a piece bolted on by two screws. The rod from a the ignition switch runs down to this. If you pull it off with an angled rod you can move the slide up or down with up being acc and all the way down being start. You will feel the postions just like starting with the key, Get a coat hander and bend the end. Slide the coat hanger where the rod was under it and the other end up to the top side of the column with another angle you can grab with a couple fingers.
Can get a used column from a pull a part for about 40 bucks. Seems like less than 16 bolts to change out the whole column but easier with 2 people to install. Less than 10 for a new tumbler at the parts store but that is the pain to install.
