Someone might be spreading a (true) rumor that my friend is gay?

So we think we know who it is, but we don't know how many people he's told. There is no proof that he's gay, so my friend can just deny it pretty easily.Or he could come out and see what happens. I'm pretty much going to go along with what my friend decides to do, because he's my best friend. I will lie for him, and i will even come out too if he wants (except people might thing we are dating). What are your opinions? We are both juniors in high school. Like i said, I'm letting him call the shots because the rumor is about him, but my thinking is if he does come out, if people are going make fun of him, I'll come out too and they can make fun of me too. I'm thereto support him. What do you think should be done? Cover it up, or just come out?

If both of you are comfortable with coming out, go ahead and do so, but if you don't think you're ready or you think you would be unsafe in doing so (I don't know where you live, obviously) then don't! If it's obvious that your friend is gay, though, you may get more grief for denying it. I wish you much luck and happiness in whatever you two do about it, though.

honestly? just come out. it's not that big of a deal.

however, if he wants to hide it, it's good that you'll help him with it. as for the 'rumor' spreading person, ignore them.

I absolutely love the fact that you're so loyal to your friend, I must say. there aren't too many people that would do something like that.

if he does decide to come out, and you do to, let people think what they want. it's high school, everyone will forget about it in a week or two.
