something is going on with my at&t lg neon phone!?

okay so battery was full and it is brand new battery. my phone is about year and half old. i tried cleaning the battery, the sim card, and the the where the battery is suppose to go. it will will not give me a screen. my buttons lite up but nothing esle will. i want my screen to work. i dont want to tell my mom tht my phone broke bc she will get very pissed at me and if i want a new phone i will have to wait till the end of may or june 2011 depending when i get a new phone at a cheaper price when my phone is 2 years old. plz help me.
