Sony turntable to home theater system?

I recently purchased a Sony PS-LX300USB turntable and decided to connect it to my Sony BDV E570 home theater system. I switched the turntable to phono and connected the RCA cables from the turntable to the back of my home theater system in the Audio In jack, but i get no sound from the speakers. Do I need to buy a preamp for the turntable?
 
Most likely yes you'll need a pre-amp. Try plugging turntable in an aux input. The info should be in the turntable documentation.
