Spare key for My Ford focus 2001 'Y reg'?

I have lost my spare key for my ford focus and have purchased a new one from the internet it's an original 3 button ford key and remote fob £35.00 which i have had cut.

It now opens the doors ok but will not start the car or open the doors via remote buttons.

I've tried to programme the new remote fob by turning the ignition from position 0 to position I I 4 times within the stated time 6 secs as my owners manual says but i can't seem to get the system into learning mode ie LED on steady.

Am i doing something wrong ?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
 
yes ford focus need to be programmed so that you can turn on the ignition you have to pay for a code and usually they are only giving to people who specialize in this field, aka locksmith, or the Ford Agency.

You can go to a locksmith and have him program it its much cheaper than buying one at the Agency!

your key will only open doors not turn on your car

does your car have anti-theft in it this could be the problem in which you will have to to the above instructions.
