Spiral perm on a mullet style hair cut?

Please no comments on the mullet. A friend has a mullet style shorter on top and long from the top of the back of the head to have way down their back. They've been thinking of getting a spiral perm on the back only leaving the top straight as it is to short to perm. Has anyone done this, what would it look like?
