ok im probly goin to be getting a 2004 1000cc honda cbr for my first bike(i have a friends bike i can learn to ride on and stuff till i feel good enought to jump on the 1000cc bike) but it main use will be for travel back and forth to my girlfriends house which is 60 miles away and i was wondering if the bike would ride comfortably or is there something i can do to help make it more comfortable...

Dont jump on a 1000cc for your first bike. its not likely that you will survive. I would go for a GSXR 600. My riding buddy has one, the steering is light, the handling is awesome, and the speed is nice. Get some time under your belt. Dont rush it.

if you listen to Steve, you will live, if you ignore his advice, you will probably die a nasty death wrapped round a tree or worse,, 1000 cc bikes are for experienced motorcyclists not beginners,, twist the throttle a fraction too far and you are off !!

You're crazy, man. Read the links below. I quote from one of them; "Getting ANY modern 600cc supersport bike for a first ride is a bad idea (far, far, far worse is a 1000cc bike for a first ride.) In fact, it may be nothing more than an expensive form of suicide."
