Well where i live there are no official motorbike dealerships except for Kawasaki so i went in to see them and they will train me on how to ride (approx 16hrs on a bike). Thing is they suggest i get a new 2011 250r which will set me back $9000 after tax and import duty is paid, and this is a lot of money for a 250R which i suspect i will only ride for about 9-12 months (weather here permits riding all year round). So i know a 250R is the best bike but at that price thought of getting a 650R which will be $14000 and getting a limiter put on it so i can ride it safely.
I'm 18 years old and love the look of sports bikes. I intend to ride the bike to school once in a while. My main use will be riding it in town during the weekends (less traffic) and on the high way ( theres this 60 mile stretch of road just out of town which winds up and down a mountain, time permitting i intend to ride that route at least once a week. Also a track day once a month or so. I'm mainly worried about how hard a 250r will be to sell here used because of the price not demand.
Another option was to import a high mileage Ninja 250R for less but the guys at the dealer suggest i go new because of the warranty, resell value etc. Am i wrong in feeling that they just want to make some money fast from me buying new?
Please someone tell me what to do cause i'm so confused
Almost forgot i'm 5"11 and weigh 160 pounds.
You can get a learners permit at 16 years here and try for your license at 18 years with no restriction on bike size.
