Nintendo and TOKYOPOP (their caps, not mine) are providing a 100-seat theatre for the duration of the show, and will be screening a "different anime and entertainment programme every day". So long as it's not the Zelda cartoon, that sounds like a pleasant enough distraction.
Oh, it's open for visitors, too, so any English-speaking Germans reading Kotaku who are anime enthusiasists and planning on attending Leipzig, you're now informed. Press release after the jump if you'd like to officially informed. Luke Plunkett
GC meets cinema: anime cinema enhances the GC entertainment programme
(report from: 16/06/2007)
Calling all anime fans: this year for the first time, the GC (Games Convention) joins forces with Nintendo and TOKYOPOP to include an anime cinema. From 22 to 26 August, visitors can enjoy a different anime and entertainment programme every day in Hall 4.
On a 340-square-metre area, GC visitors can immerse themselves in the colourful world of anime, with a total of 100 seats providing an opportunity to relax away from the turbulence of the games area. The latest film technology ensures an authentic cinema experience - and there's plenty of entertainment in the breaks as well.
The GC is Europe's benchmark fair for interactive entertainment, infotainment, edutainment and hardware. Around 390 exhibitors from the games industry are expected to be at the Leipzig Exhibition Centre from 23 to 26 August. Altogether 115,000 square metres (2006: 90,000) will be available to game fans. On the Thursday and Sunday, the GC is open from 9.00 to 18.00. On Friday and Saturday, the public exhibition halls stay open till 20.00. Further information is available at www.gc-germany.com.
