Matt Stairs will sign a one-year contract with the San Diego Padres ESPN is reporting. The network says that Stairs will be a pinch-hitter. In 103 at-bats with with the Phillies last season, Stairs hit 5 home runs and 17 RBI and had a batting average of .194.
