For recording, I run my instruments through an effect pedal that runs to my laptop via USB, and the computer can send sounds back through the pedal to the amp. During performance, I run a cable from the laptop headphone jack to my mixer board's stereo audio input to run samples. While doing either of these things, having my laptop plugged in produces static. Why does this happen, and how can I stop it?
