Steam train vacation?

I am interested in getting my parents set up for a steam train vacation. My stepdad loves steam trains, and I was hoping to find a multiday vacation trip for them.
Ideally, they would sleep on the train itself, however spending a night in a hotel and then getting back on the train each day would be doable. United States only, please. Mom doesn't have a passport and doesn't want one.

Any suggestions?
