Steering wheel won't turn?

I was trying to figure out why my horn wasn't working, 1971 scamp, so I took off the after market steering wheel. There was one big bolt in the middle and three around it, came off easily, I then put the steering wheel back on but it started putting up a huge fight when trying to turn it either direction. Not sure what happened, the car still turns on and the steering wheel isn't "locked" the wheels were straight when I attempted this. Any suggestions
