Stream TV from Tuner Card over network?

Hi,

I have a Hauppauge TV Tuner card, and it's working nicely on my main PC. I would like to, however, stream that content over my home network to my laptop, so I could watch it anywhere (in my house)

I've been reading about getting VLC to do it, but thats not working.

OrbLive sort of works, but since it goes through the internet, it slows things down a LOT.

I am very technically proficient, and usually this would be a breeze for me.

Are there any simple VLC tutorials out there? Or maybe a whole 'nother method all together?
