I have a few questions about a sound system im gonna put in my car. I'm planning on using as of now is Alpine SWR 1243D, which is an Alpine type R sub 12" 4 ohms, double voice coils, with 300-600 RMS. then i wanna plug that into an Alpine MRP-500, which is a mono sub amp at 300 rms. but at 2 ohms the amp puts out 500 RMS. i know i can wire the sub parallel since its a DVC into making the amp 2 ohms, but my question is will that damage my speakers since their impedence is 4 ohms, or will it matter since i wired them parallel?

Parallel is the way to go as long as your amp is stable at or below the lower impedance. Two 4 ohm voice coils wired parallel give a total impedance of 2 ohms. Check the amp and make sure it's stable at 2 ohms. If its stability limit is higher than 2ohms the speakers will draw excess current resulting in the amp overheating. Verify the specs of the speakers again. They're either 300 rms watts or 600 rms watts. They aren't both. 300 is not strong enough to withstand 500 watts from the amp .
