.These cars are very reliable (some even compare them to bigger Japanese names like Toyota and Honda). Take care of your subaru and it'll take care of you.
.Gas mileage is fair to say the least. I have a 07 WRX which is half a liter larger than the 02/03 and I get around 23mpg- and thats including my unnecessary races.
.The clutch ultimately depends on its age/use. If it was abused or greatly overused from previous owner, it'll be somewhat soft compared to a brand new oem clutch.
.I would look for a lower mileage WRX, maybe an 05+ yr so the tranny is typically stronger. If you truly want that one and have no other option, I say get it fully inspected and I emphasize "FULLY". Compression tests, transmission/oil/fluids checks, chassis damage, body damage, turbo play, and other necessities I can't think of right now haha.
.There are WRX's out there that have 200k+ miles on them. As stated before, if you take care of maintenance regularly on your car and don't beat on it like you stole it then it can reach that kind of mileage.
hope that helped and good luck with your purchase.
