suv loses power going up hill?

2003 ford escape has new air and fuel filters. going up hill drops to 40mph and rpms go up when stepping on gas no skips no codes shifts fine into gear. drives fine on level?
i have a code computer i have put it on while driving up hill none come up i am thinking exhaust clog maybe in resanator
 
are you using overdrive ? try using regular drive going up hills ! regular drive gives you extra power on hills.
