So I'm looking into a beginner motorcycle. I have been riding ATVs and dirt bikes all my life and i just want to cruse around town so speed and all that crap is not important to me. The reason I'm not asking about the Rebel because I heard it has a problem when at certain speeds it likes to shift into neutral. I had two friends who had bad wrecks because of that and they also told me that most Honda's have that problem. Not dissing Honda, they are a great company and my friends still have their Rebels, it just worries me. Any opinions would be great. Thanks!

Hard to beat a Suzuki for reliabilty. Most underrated motorcycle brand out there but IMO the best one.

I'd go for the V star 250, it's got a sweet little v twin, and I think it is the better looking of the two.

Daughter has a 250 VStar for a first bike. I've ridden it and am impressed with the way it handles and with the power the engine makes. Having enough power to get away from hazardous situations is important.

Your friends are misleading you about Hondas. None of the Honda's we've owned, including the three we have now, shift into neutral at certain speeds. Sounds like your friends are trying to cover up an operator error.
