Sweet valley high books Vs Sweet valley tv show: which was better?

I was such a big fan of the Sweet valley high books and the other day on youtube i came across the tv series. i remember being so excited about it when it came out in 1994, i thought it would be full length and in depth like beverley hills 90210 but instead it was a 20 minute joke that did the books a hugh injustice. i guess what am really curious about is: was i the only fan of the books that was disappointed by the tv series?

I liked the books too. And when the tv series came out I would watch it when I got home from school. It wasn't that great. I don't even remember much about it, except that it was a let-down and I stopped watching it.
