switching cell phone carriers from t-mobile to at&t?

I am looking into switching from t-mobile to at&t because I would like to have an iphone. is it worth it? how do i get out of my current t-mobile plan? would I have to pay the rest of my 2 year contract off (I still have 18 months remaining)? thanks
 
The early termination fee is $200. I love my iPhone but I waited until my contract was over. By the time your contract is over, 2 more iPhones will have been released.
