T-Mobile primary account holder?

I used to be on a family plan with T-Mobile and once I got a job I branched off to a separate individual plan. I still have the same number and everything. They just gave me my own bill and plan. Now I want to upgrade my phone and the website tells me I'm not primary account holder......I'm the ONLY account. I only have 1 line in my plan. I've tried calling customer service and they said they were confused too since I was the only line. Then they went on trying to sale me phones and plans I didn't want. I've had this problems for months now. I pay my bill with no problem which I would think would be indicative of a PRIMARY account holder. I really would like to upgrade my phone online and benefits from some of the websites offers (which aren't always available over the phone). How do I fix this issue of being recognized as the primary account holder on my line? Thanks for any help :)
