I have a VW automatic beetle 2001 diesel. will it give me better Fuel mpg if i do away with it. i had a 2001 standard and i would get almost 60 mpg now i am only getting 39 help
I have a 03 ford diesel, I took the Cat and the only improvement I saw was lower EGT's while towing, not by much about 50 deg. it not improve my milage and you could smell, and see a bit of smoke while idling. So I put it back, it was not worth getting pulled over and get a ticket for what I was getting...
No, it won't, it will more and likely cause more problems with the emissions laws in your area, thus screwing with the computer controlled devices that monitor your exhaust and what not.
Its actually a particulate filter is what they call it.
Usually you can take them off. Depending on if there are sensors after the particulate filter. I dont think that year diesel will have to be smogged so you should be fine there. Also I think they make the diesels run richer with those filters so they can stay hot and burn off any soot and things like that, that are coming through the exhaust.
