Im not sure how to explain this but my brother was telling me that he downloaded "My Movies". It allowed him to RIP his DVD and Blu Ray DVDs on his PC which was stored in his external storage device. http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/network_storage/blackarmor/blackarmor_nas/ He was then able to go on his Xbox 360 and instead of popping in a movie intro the xbox, he went to Windows Media Center and was able to scroll down to any movie he ripped and was able to watch it.

This seemed like common sense to me. Find the money to buy this external storage device. RIP my DVDs... but the only problem is, I have an i-Mac. ... which I won't be able to watch the movies through my Xbox 360 since Windows Media Center is only a Microsoft program.

Does anyone know how to go about doing this? What Im asking is... how can I do this? How can I RIP all my movies to this storage device and watch them without popping in the disc.

You need a "Media Server". Look at the Roku 2 XD box. For $99 it has HDMI out and a USB input. You put movies on a flash drive or USB hard drive and you can scroll through the inventory and play movies. The little box has all the software to handle AVI, MPG, MP4, WMV, etc.

For $99 you get one that takes hard-wired connection through a USB port. More expensive ones have network connections, wireless, built-in hard drives, etc.

Your brother is using his xbox as a media server but most of the stand-alone units work well with mac or PC.
