Tell me the sequence of what happens during applying for a job to a newbie?

I'm a recent college grad, applying for "real jobs" for the first time. Tell me the exact sequence detailed from when I send out my resume/cover letter (For instance, what type of envelope do I use? Just a standard letter size where you fold it up? Or something else). Then next they may call me for an interview??? Then what???
