Tenuous links

Boy George sung the title song to the film 'The Crying Game' (back when he could still sing), an Irish film about the troubles. 'Breakfast in Pluto' is a novel (and film) also set in the troubles written by Patrick McCabe, but disputed by a guy I met who owned and ran a couple of Irish pubs when I was living in Amsterdam. An Irish pub is where you might hear 'The Pogues', not just at xmas

The singer from the Pogues is known as a man of many words, but few teeth, unlike the muppet vocalist Dr Teeth, from The Electric Mayhem. That band shares one word with Norwegian black metal band, Mayhem, whose vocalist Varg Vikernes was also known as Count Grishnackh. Grishnلkh was an orc charcter in The Lord of the Rings. The movie adaptation of the books featured Viggo Mortensen, who was once married to Exene Cervenka, who provided vocals for punk band X.

I opened this thread expecting yet another solid gold tenuous link from you then. I'm disappointed. And hurt.

X is a letter of the alphabet but also the roman numeral for the number 10. 10 was the score that Bo Derek's body was given in the film of the same name. The film also starred diminutive piano-playing comedian Dudley Moore. Dudley Moore wore an orthopedic shoe due to having one leg shorter than the other. Taking that to the extreme, in a popular sketch with his comedy partner Peter Cook, Dudley Moore hilariously auditioned for the part of Tarzan despite only having one leg! Tarzan has been played by numerous actors over the years but none better than Johnny Weismuller. As well as being good at carrying chimps, Johnny Weismuller was a multiple olympic medalist in the 1920s. The olympics is being hosted by London this year and at the hand over ceremony at the Beijing Olympics noted UK axe-man Jimmy Page played Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin.

Zepplin's are blimps designed to fly in the air. The original conception behind them came after Ferdinand von Zepplin saw how effectively the French used balloons during the Franco-Prussian war. 99 red balloons were the subject of a song by Nena. Nena is originally from Germany, a country that is also the birthplace of Klaus Nomi

Klaus Nomi has a name that rhymes with offtopic fighter Takanori Gomi. Gomi is nicknamed "The Fireball kid". A "kid" is also the name for a young goat. Goats have traditionally been the enemy of trolls. Two famous trolls on MAP have been "ThefierceHadou" and "WushiRichard". As well as being a world class martial artists and tactician "WushuRichard" is also adept at rapping. Another good rapper is Ice Cube of NWA fame. NWA's classic "Straight outta compton" uses a drum sample from Amen Brother by The Winstons (which basically links us to most electronic music made in the last 20-30 years!).

Amen Brother is something you are likely to hear in a church. A church is where religious people go to worship. Members of one religion, in many cases, don't like other religions. In that respect, a religion someone doesn't like may be called a Bad Religion

Bad religion were (are?) a punk band. Punk was popularised in the 70's by Malcolm McLaren. McLaren was ginger. Another Ginger person is Tiffany who sang "I think we're alone now" in the 80's.

'I think we're alone now' is what you might hear a stupid person say in a horror film. A horror film based on zombies was the inspiration for Michael Jackson's thriller (now also possibly a zombie). Michael Jackson was made out of plastic. Being made out of plastic (or life as plastic, to be more precise) is fantastic, according to Aqua

Oh, and they still are a punk band.

Aqua also did a song called "Dr Jones" which is the professional name of indiana jones. Indiana jones' weapon of choice is a Bullwhip. A bullwhip is often used in BDSM where people take pleasure in causing each other pain. When my girlfriend wants to cause me pain she makes me listen to "how you remind me" by Nickleback.

I was going to say you are immediately disqualified for mentioning Nickleback, but then I read the post properly. My ex used to do that.

my EX.

Nickleback did a video for "Rockstar" that featured UFC fighter Chuck Liddell. Chuck Liddell is nicknamed "The Iceman". Ice is frozen water and can be found at both poles of the earth. At the South Pole (but not the north) you might find Penguins. The Penguin was a villain in Batman and was played in the old TV series by Burgess Meredith. Meredith also played the trainer in Rocky III which featured "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor.

Tigers' eyes are the brightest in the animal kingdom. They reflect and focus light, acting like flashlights.

Flashlights can also be called torches. The original Torches were sticks of wood with flaming pitch at one end. pitch black was a film starring vin diesel who also starred in XXX which sounds as if it could be a porno film. So we have flamey bits of wood and XXX films which leads us to Porno for pyros.

Porno is a novel by noted Scotch author, Irvine Welsh. Other famous Scotchmen include Rab C Nesbitt, The Krankies and C.U. Jimmy. C.U. Jimmy was created by funny man Russ Abbott. Russ Abbott had hair implant surgery to try and cure male patern baldness. Male pattern baldness is a well symptom of low intelligence. Another term for being of low intelligence is being an "idiot" which links us tenuously to American Idiot by Green day.

Green Day sounds like something you might have if you're feeling ill. If you're feeling ill it might be because you drank some bad water. Bad water can have algae and suchlike in it, which is sometimes green, just like Green. Algae is like Fungus, which can also be green, and which also appears in Incubus' first album fungus amungus

Incubus sounds a little bit like Nukubus, aka Jan, one of the early bunch recording on the infamous Dutch techno label Bunker Records. Stuck in a bunker for some time you're likely to get quite hungry, literally hungry like the wolf. I think Duran Duran sang about this problem.

Duran Duran performed the song "Barbarella". The movie Barbarella featured Jane Fonda wearing very little clothing. Another Jane who wears very little clothing is Jane Porter, heroine of Tarzan.

Guitarzan was the name of a pretty bad song by Ray Stevens. I just watched the video on youtube, and it features people in bad ape costumes. A man with plenty of experience with people in ape costumes was Charlton Heston. He was known to be rather fond of rifles, but I'm not sure how fond he was of Sydney punk rock band Celibate Rifles.
