Text probs with Telus/Koodo?

The last phone I had was with Sonofon in Denmark, great rates (with pay as you go I free incoming calls and texts, about 4 cent a text outgoing and 12 cents a minute outgoing call, all minutes rollover, free caller ID). Satisfied!

I'm looking for a new phone now that I'm home. I used to have Fido, but when I left for Europe they tried to screw me over and withhold my pre-paid money (paid 3 months my bill at a time, so I had a credit, and they wouldn't give back $65 that was rightfully mine). So, though I had been happy with Fido, screw them.

My brother has Koodo and is very happy with them, but some of my friends have Telus (Koodo is a division of Telus, same towers) and have been having trouble with text messages... which is what I primarily use to communicate.
They would receive texts hours after their friends had sent them... it wasn't one location, or one persons phone, but many people. Even customers I served had that problem! "Telus?" I would ask, and they would be shocked that I knew!

Have anyone else had this problem? Talked to Telus at all? I spoke with a London Drugs sales clerk today who was clueless, so I'm hoping others other there have discovered something.

This is an ongoing issue with TELUS/Koodo. Neither company is known for their stellar text services. Usually the messages are instant but sometimes they seem to take forever and it doesn't matter what your location is. Many users have voiced their concerns over the years.
