The American Infallibility Complex

Jews have been in that region for over 3,000 years.

The region was under Jewish rule from about 3,000 years ago until they were defeated by the Romans around 70-100 CE

The region has not been under autonomous rule from 100CE to 1948

Most of the land settled by Jews prior to 1948 was bought and paid for.

The original partition plan gave Arabs a contiguous state, Gaza, WB and a land bridge.

Jews accepted the compromise. Arabs did not and attacked. Roughly 750,000 Arabs moved out of the new country of Israel. A lot left because they were told by their leaders that they'd be back home soon. Some were forced out. Some left for other reasons. Arab states did not welcome them.

About the same time, roughly the same number of Jews left Arab countries, for similar reasons. About 20% settled in NA and Europe. 80% were absorbed into Israel.

Arabs attacked again in '56, '67' 73.

Occupation was oft mentioned as the impediment to peace. Israel evacuated Gaza, at great political cost. The plan was to do the same to much of the WB. Arab reaction to the withdrawal was to rain rockets on Israel.

There has been numerous attempts to negotiate a 2 state solution and a lasting peace. Arabs have always rejected it.

Arabs will not even take the first, small meaningful step towards a negotiated peace. Recognize the State of Israel.

There's history for you.

I have always been very sympathetic to the Palestinian position and donated at times. Though I do find it highly contemptible those who are ignorant that Israel has been under attack since day 1. Do you not recognize the events shortly following the establishment of Israel?

Raz

That's the basis of The Big Lie. repeat it often enough, and you start to believe it's true.

And you might be surprised how many Jews are sympathetic to the Palestinians and want nothing more than establishing 2 states and peace.

Quit simply god needs to make an appearance and make it clear who's really entitled to that land.
Band some heads together and sort things so we can stop going on about it.

I can just see G-d coming back, looking around and telling everybody we've got it all wrong.

Like the old joke:

A cardinal storms into the Pope's office
"Your Holiness, I have good news and bad news"
"Give me the good news"
"Jesus is back and he's on the phone for you"
"And the bad news?"
"He's calling from Salt Lake City"

Yeah, it's all the Arabs fault, never has a Jew ever done anything wrong.

Jesus H Christ (No pun intended)

Not the point. How can you negotiate peace if one party will not even recognize the other's right to exist?

Is it all the Arab's fault? of course not. But the Israelis did not start this. They accepted the compromise in 1948 and were attacked. Opportunities have been missed by all ever since.

They accepted a compromise that forced hundreds of thousands of people out of their homes.

The Israelis do nothing by antagonise the Palestinians. Netanyahu's worst nightmare is Hamas conceding Israel's right to exist, which is why he has done everything in his power to anger the Palestinians. He's a bloody disgrace.

Israel is making a rod for her own back. It is only a matter of time before militants get their hands on advanced weaponry from Iran/Syria/Lebanon/Egypt. If Israel really wants peace, it could start by acting like it.

Most left because they were told they'd be back in a matter of weeks. Those who stayed enjoy a better standard of living and freedoms than in any other neighbouring countries.

The Israeli government reflects the people. Israeli politics is mainly formed by a whacky right, a whacky left, both dismissed by all. And the bulk clustered on the center, left and right. Unfortunately, every time there's a failed attempt at peace, every time rockets come down, the centrist block shifts ever so slightly to the right.

You may be surprised at what the popular consensus is in Israel on what a negotiated settlement would look like.

Jerusalem needs to be shared.
Borders would be roughly what they are now. Settlements in the WB that are close to the border, what 'close' is is yet TBD, would be part of Israel, with land that is currently in Israel given to the WB to compensate. The Camp David agreement came very close to that. with some tweaks, mainly the fate of Jerusalem, it would have been accepted by Israel. It produced the Second Intifada fro the Palestinians.

lol "there's history", Canuck? Really? That's just a load of rubbish lol. I wonder if you're purposely altering the facts or not.

The UN is who forcefully separated Palestine into Israel (for the Jews) and Palestine fell to the Muslims. You act like the Palestinians had some major decision in the divide and you expect them to just up and leave? That's where you're fooling yourself and attempting to fool others.

It's one thing to share the land you live on but it's another to forcefully be kicked out. Christians, Jews and Muslims all have many of their holiest shrines in and around Jeruselum.

But lets take this conversation to the next step then since you insist on applying more falsified "facts". How do you justify the Israelis stealing more and more land from the Palestinians on a yearly basis? If there was an agreed upon decision and the Israeli government is so innocent and giving, then explain this?

Yes the Jews accepted the compromise so willingly they celebrated by executing to British Army captains.

Jews did not have input either. And Jews, mostly, did not kick the Arabs out. They would have been quite happy to continue living with their neighbours.

cry cry whine whine, are we to really believe that the United States and it faulty "system" are to blame for your poor choices and life failures? That's absolutely insane. If you grew up ignorant of the world around you then your parents are as much to blame as the (allegedly) poor (public?) school system you were are part of. Give me a flubbing break.

If you think that American children in general are "raised to believe they are superior to the rest of the world" (which is a wacking ridiculous claim, imo) then it's up to you to break the cycle when it's your turn to raise kids; getting all angsty on a forum where Americans are the minority helps nothing.

Actually, I'm pretty successful, thanks. I lead a great life and my father spent more time working on Wall Street than you've probably been alive. I grew up in a very educated family, I have celebrities in my immediate family, I've helped with countless charity events for people suffering from all around the world (including in the U.S.), I'm married, I have a ton of responsibilities, and I find that every one I meet in person tends to find a liking to my political perspectives, even if they don't agree completely.

What about you? What have you done for people? What have you done with your life?

Great job at failing in analyzing me. I'm glad you think you've got me all figured out through a forum.

And actually, I will in fact "cry cry whine whine" as much as it suits me. We didn't shed the blood of millions of men fighting for freedom just so people like you can get on the Internet and attempt to take that same freedom away. If you don't like my opinion (as if it's hardly mine alone), then you're just gonna have to deal with it and go moan to a wall. Something people like you forget is that we do have freedom of speech and are entitled to our own opinions and views. For you to attempt to infringe on my rights in an attempt to take the higher, patriotic ground is irony in its purest form. Now you can quit acting like a spoiled, little brat from God knows where ever the hell you live and go learn a thing or two from grownups.

Fail. Oh, and same to Martial Man.

So you actually expect any one with half a brain to believe that the Jews of Israel had nothing to do with the UN forcefully splitting Palestine into two and giving them (the migrating Jews) the larger portion and then being supported by the UN in stealing more and more of the Palestinian land?

.......

If you are an Amercian why are you getting worked up over this? Almost all land that is worth having has been fought over many times. Everyone's ancestors have at one time been the invading hoard and the poor innocent victims. Big deal. Get over it.
