Some auto parts (Auto Zone here) will check your car for free. You need to do this. It does sound like your regulator in the alternator is overcharging you battery.
You Battery is over charging. The armature in the alternator is stuck cause the battery to charge at high output all the time, have alternator checked. Also if it is an older model, have the voltage regulator checked, it's probably stuck.
