Technically, All it is is an argument about what happens to you after you die. Right? If the Atheists are right, then point and laugh when you're dead. If the Catholics and Christians are right, then point and laugh when you're dead.

Lets all stop arguing about what happens to us when we die and live our life without thinking about what happens in the AFTERlife. Let's just live life the way we want and worry about what comes after when the time is right.

I agree.

When you die, it's the end of you.
So why should you care about what happens when you are over?
Because technically...nothing happens.

And, by the way no, it's not an argument about what happens after you die. It's a lot deeper that that. We atheists feel that the concept of a "God" is just simply a fairy tale and something that isn't true.

I'm not worried about the effects of religion after my death. I'm worried about the effects on my life.

The argument is not to be controlled by the church, how would you like your answers here monitored by a church appointed official to make sure no one was opposing the faith. Because that's what will happen if the fundies are allowed to be in control.

by then it will be too late

you have to prepare now not wait til after you die

salvation in God is needed before one dies

there is no chance to get it after you die

I agree. 'Cept for it's only an afterlife thing, it's more of a lifestyle thing. We're all fighting for the freedom to believe what we want without being opposed. But to me life is more fun with a bit of opposition and conflict, plus I just like to rile up people. I can't help it, it's in my nature. Me and my sis fight all the time! it's kinda like that...two children fighting over who gets to make the rules and sit at the top of the playground, 'Cept it's lots of children and where all fighting over something bigger (freedom of belief {which the last time I checked...most of us have [some, sadly, do not]}).

the only thing that can happen now is that they all kill each other and the those of us that can strike a balance between spirituality and individuality will establish new world order.

I totally agree. Trouble happens though when people want their religious beliefs to interfere with my living my life and society advancing rather then just follow their beliefs for themselves in their own lives. If they can refrain from that though then no problem.

Catholics ARE Christians (The Very First One)
we aren't arguing with anybody
we are simply pointing out in what we believe in
Assumption is a dangerous thing

if it were that simple

remember christians want to save your eternal soul and all that so they cant just live their life their way...they want you to believe

its all the same anyway

the problem occurs when one of the two sides lets their incorrect assumptions lead their decision making, which leads the other side to argue that they are wrong...and then its all down hill

The reason atheists and Catholics bicker so much is that the Catholic church, alone among churches (to my knowledge), believes that reason alone can lead you to god. This is so incredibly false that it just begs to be attacked. But the Catholics have had a lot of really intelligent people going to bat for them for thousands of years. Rebutting those claims requires exceptionally above-average intelligence on the part of the atheist and that necessarily makes it a very small number of potentially successful adversaries. If you had to successfully argue against some of the best thinkers of the past thousand years how well do you think you'd do?

Just to brag, because I am at the way tippy-top of the bell curve regarding intelligence, I once argued a priest (with a tested IQ of 165) out of his faith. He's an agnostic now. I'm really proud of that.

Lmao!
Amen brother I agree with you.
I feel we should do what we can to make this world we live on a better place while we are here.
That way no matter what we believed in life when we leave this earth we will have left it in a better state then it was when we came in.

Peace and Blessings = )

That would be the intelligent thing to do, yet... for some.. reason... must... defeat all who oppose me!

Umm, just putting it out there, but if athiests are right, they won't be able to really point and laugh at anyone after they're dead. They'll simply be nonexistant at that point.
