its a tough one, theres loads of reasons for or against.
personally i think if someone murders someone else and there is actual evidence and it is 100% certain then the person should have to face the death penalty.
also, other inhumane crimes like rape and paedophilia should have to face a death penalty
Recently, a prison's cooking facilities had problems. So with taxpayers money, all these rapists and murderers were bought £28,000 of McDonalds food. - Not to mention the fact that life sentences never remain for life. And the reasons theres so few arrests for all the idiots in this country is because the jails are "full". [Although why they aren't just crammed in their like sardines I don't know....]
So... I just thought, all the extreme offenders, the kidnappers, the murderers should just be executed.
Personally I don't believe in the death penalty. I think life is too precious, and it's not our place to make the judgement to take it away (please don't let me previous comment turn this into a religious discussion. it's just my view). I am strongly in favor of prison reform. I feel the ACLU has fought WAAAAY to hard for "prisoners rights." Of which, I feel, the only one they have is the right not to be beaten and tortured. No phone, no TV. I mean it's punishment, there should be No, absolutly NO comforts!
I can't believe that a country as developed and as seemingly religious as the US could still support the death penalty. That said this is the country that fights for freedom yet holds POWs in sub-standard conditions in Cuba.
Sounds great, we can use the money that we put into jails for other things instead. All we need to is supply each town with a gillotine, much cheaper than jails.
Here in the US, we just sentenced a man accused, convicted, and confessed to having known about, planned, and participated in the 9/11 hijackings that resulted in the cold-blooded murder of over 3000 innocent civilians, to LIFE IN PRISON. This is a man who scorned the entire judicial process, celebrated his part in the plot, and avidly supported making "every day 9/11."
Surely if any case anywhere in the world ever warranted the death penalty, this was it.
Perhaps the passengers of Flight 93 (which crashed in Pennsylvania, and I don't think was included in this trial) can receive justice, and a trial for their murders may yet result in Mr Mousouai getting his well-deserved wish for martyrdom.
I suppport Martyrdom as long as it limited to those people and not innocent civilians. If they tried to kill innocents or did without killing themselves, I say do it for them.
This, in my opinion, is a man who needs the cold steel of a gun barrel, pressed against his head, then the trigger pulled. No dignity taken into consideration, just screw him.
