the lava in my lava lamp is solid, why?

I have had a lava lamp for about 3 years now, and I haven't turned it on in about 2 years. The lava is now solid, and also some is stuck at the top... will turning the lamp on make it go back to the liquid, and flow evenly?
 
Yes, it should. Heat is what makes it flow and move the way it does.
