The mic on my itouch 4 seems to be broken. How?

I got the the new itouch 4 with the camera and built in microphone, I've had it for few days and it seems to be working fine but now it seems to be broken and I know i did nothing wrong to damage it. It's like when ever I do voice memos or that Tom cat app or even record a video, the recorded audio or when I try to recocord any thing it would always have no voices at all it would always catch the ambient noises. It irrattating me! Please give me an explanation why!
