I heard some were on the samsung impression you can write the text with your finger as in writing the message with just your finger like a pen is this true?

Yes, this is true. However, you can only write one letter at a time. I don't find the feature particularly useful. The phone does have a pretty nice touch screen keyboard (and slide out keyboard). The full keyboard touch screen is what I use the most. Once you get used to it, it's really nice. The t9 fixes most all the mistakes I make when I hit a wrong letter.
