I have a Pioneer DEH P6100BT stereo in my truck with stock speakers. Any time I turn the volume up kinda loud, the stereo will shut off for a few seconds, then turn back on. I'm not sure why it is doing that. I've been told it could be bad wiring, bad stock speakers(like the stock speakers can't put out what the stereo is trying to make them), or the stereo doesnt have enough power or something..? any ideas?
The only time it does this is when I have to turn up the volume when I am going down the interstate with my windows down. It's really not all that loud.. but it still shuts down, and then takes maybe 5-10 seconds to start playing again.

Oh, and lets say I put the volume around 40... It will play for a few seconds until the song has a big bass note or something, and that's when everything shuts down lol.

Any info is appreciated :D

Oh, and my truck is a 2004 GMC Canyon 4-door if that helps..
I would like to think it is not the deck itself. It is only like a year or two old, and its a good quality one.. it cost $200.. :/

its possible you have a speaker that is blown and the voice coil is shorting to ground. (tripping the protection circuits in your radio) But if that was the case i think you would hear it (obvious distortion) its more likely that you have a low voltage issue. check all fuses for corrosion. (radio and truck) and make sure your grounded properly. do you have a volt meter you can check the voltage when you max it out?

if you want it too sound loud and good, you might have to upgrade the rest of your system. or just dont listen to it that loud.

It has to be the wiring harness or the deck itself. I would consider buying a new harness on Ebay for around 8 bucks to try that out, if that doesn't work, I would probably consider buying a new deck.
